Stanford international school scholarship for grade 9-12


Applications to our international curriculum school are open for the 2026-27 academic year!

We offer admissions on a rolling basis. Limited spaces are available for the 2025/26 academic year. Students can start school any time during the academic year if space is available in their grades. We are a through-train school, and once your child enrolls at Stamford American School HK, they can attend until graduation – no need to reapply.

*All students must hold a valid Hong Kong visa prior to the start date

Applications are considered in priority in the order of date received and other admissions priority criteria. Early applications for our international curriculum school are favored. Admissions will be offered from December / January onward based on space availability and grade applied.

Application and assessment fees for our international curriculum school are currently waived.

To apply, please follow these steps:

Step 1

Submit the online application form and attach the required documents. Click below for grade-specific requirements.

  • Copy of Passport
  • Copy of Birth Certificate
  • Passport Style headshot photo on a white background
  • Previous school year full report – all terms/semesters (officially notarized and translated into English)
  • Current school year full report – full semester/term (officially notarized and translated into English)
  • For High School applications (Grade 9-12): School reports must be official school transcripts
  • English and Math teacher email addresses for our team to reach out to for a reference. High school applicants, we will also request for the Principal or Academic Counsellor contact
  • Should a school report for the current school year not be available, we will need a Letter of Enrolment indicating the grade level the applicant is currently enrolled in

Applicants for our High School in Grade 9-12, have the following additional requirements:

  • Expression of interest to be completed to indicate the courses the students would wish to pursue. Please review the High School Course Catalogue on the High School page as a guide in completing.
  • Diploma Program Application for incoming Grade 11 applicants that wish to pursue the IBDP
  • Middle Years Program Transfer Form for Grade 10 students that are transferring from an MYP school in Grade 10 for Semester 2)

After the application is submitted a member of our admissions team will be in touch and may request additional documents where applicable. These might include but are not limited to the following:

  • Standardized achievement test scores
  • Educational assessment or specialist reports
  • Guardianship forms: Please note students need to be 12 years or older, and applying for Grade 6 and above to be eligible to reside with a Guardian*

Application guideline

After acceptance into Stamford, and before starting school you will need to provide the following:

1. Signed Student Contract**

Once an offer is made, a link to sign the student contract will be sent via email. This contract secure the student’s place and must be completed within seven (7) days of receiving the email; otherwise,  the offer will be invalidated.

The contracts below are for reference only. No hardcopy of contracts are required.

2. Settlement of Enrolment, Facility and Tuition fees

Fees must be paid within seven calendar (7) days of receiving the invoice or in accordance with the fee schedule.

3. Submission of a Valid Visa copy

Students must possess a valid visa before starting school and submit a copy of the front and back of the physical card or a PDF copy. The following are acceptable visas:

  • Dependents Pass (DP): If one parent is an eligible Employment Pass or S Pass holder, they may bring certain family members to Singapore on a Dependant’s Pass.
  • Student Pass (SP): If the above is not applicable. Stamford American will register a child requiring a Student Pass with the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) after acceptance and parents will submit  the Student Pass (STP) application. Student Pass holders can commence classes after the student ID has been issued. Student Pass holders must maintain a minimum 90% monthly attendance, as stipulated by the ICA.
  • Long term Vistor’s Pass (LTVP): LTVP holders may enroll in a full-time course for the duration of their existing pass and do not require a Letter of Consent or a Student Pass.

English Language Requirements

Applicants may be required to take an English Language assessment after completing their application if:

  • English is not their native language
  • They are coming from a school where English is not the primary language of instruction, or
  • They previously  received EAL (English as Additional Language) support at their previous school.

In KG2 – Grade 5, Stamford American  provides  two levels of English language support:

  • EAL Level A: For students entering, emerging, or developing English skills (low to mid-level proficiency)
  • EAL Level B: For students developing, expanding, and bridging English skills (mid to high-level proficiency)

In Grades 6 – 10 , the following support is available: 

  • EAL Level B: For students developing, expanding, and bridging English skills (mid to high-level proficiency)
  • Preparatory Course for Secondary School (PCS): Designed for students in Grade 6 – 10 who need additional support

In Grades 11 – 12, students are required to have a near native level of English speaking, writing, and comprehension. Assessment Requirements:

  • For KG2 – G5 is determined by the WIDA English proficiency assessment, conducted by a member of our enrollment team (preferably in person at the Admissions office) before admission.
  • For G6 – G10 (and Grade 5 students starting in semester 2), including the PCS program, the level of support is determined by the SLATE Plus test. For students who are unfamiliar with the SLATE Plus, iTEP offers the following preparation resources:

Admissions Priority

Stamford gives admissions priority in the following circumstances:

Debenture for International School in Hong Kong

  1. Child nominated by Platinum Corporate Debenture
  2. Child nominated by Standard Plus Corporate Debenture
  3. Child nominated by Standard Corporate Debenture
  4. Child nominated by Individual Debenture

 

Others

  1. Siblings of existing students attending Stamford
  2. U.S. citizens
  3. Students with an enrollment record in other Cognita international schools
  4. All others
