The Heinrich Böll Foundation offers fully funded scholarships for international students pursuing master's and doctoral degrees at accredited universities in Germany. Approximately 1,200 to 1,500 scholarships are awarded annually across all academic disciplines,

📅 Application Deadlines

  • March 1, 2025: For studies commencing in the winter semester (October 2025).

  • September 1, 2025: For studies commencing in the summer semester (April 2026).

The online application portal opens about six weeks before each deadline.

🎓 Eligibility Criteria

  • Academic Level: Must have a bachelor's degree (for master's applicants) or a master's degree (for doctoral applicants).

  • University Admission: Must be admitted to or have applied for a full-time master's or doctoral program at a German university.

  • Academic Excellence: Demonstrate outstanding academic achievements (typically in the top 10-30% of your class).

💰 Scholarship Benefits

  • Monthly Stipend:

    • Master's students: €850

    • Doctoral students: €1,200

    • €100 monthly study and research allowance.
